CDU & SPD treiben in Berlin die Überwachung des öffentlichen Raums massiv voran. Nach Waffenverbotszonen, ASOG-Verschärfungen, Zaun um den Görli inklusive einer nächtlichen Schließung folgen jetzt KI-Kameras. Im April sollen diese im Görli, am Kotti und am Alex installiert werden, am 4. Mai soll der Betrieb in einer Testphase ausprobiert werden, in einer zweiten Phase folgen dann die übrigen „kriminalitätsbelasteten Orte“ in der zweiten Jahreshälfte. Kosten? Schlappe vier Millionen Euro…
Durch die Anwendung von KI soll das Verhalten von Personen und Personengruppen schnell erkannt werden und die Polizei schnell eingreifen können. Datenschutz scheint eine wenn überhaupt untergeordnete Rolle zu spielen und warum dieses Vorhaben funktionieren sollte, bleibt unklar: keine KI erkennt, ob es sich um aggressive oder tanzende Personen handelt, Verhalten von Menschen in psychischen Ausnahmesituationen lässt sich nicht mit logischen und rationalen Rechenvorgängen vorhersagen. Ohnehin führt der Einsatz von nur unzureichend im Umgang mit Traumata und psychisch erkrankten Personen ausgebildeten Polizist*innen regelmäßig zu vermeidbaren Eskalationen. Immer wieder wird von Expert*innen und Wissenschaftler*innen darauf hingewiesen, dass KI bestehende Diskriminierung wie Rassismus und Stigmatisierung von Suchtkranken weiter verstärkt. [mehr Infos]
Zusätzlich haben KI-Systeme eine erschreckend hohe Fehlerquote, weil sie auf statistischen Daten basieren und sich fehlende Informationen „herbeihalluzinieren“ und so für eine starke Verbreitung von Fehlinformationen z. B. in digitalen Medien sorgen. [mehr Infos]

Der Kiez braucht weder noch mehr Racial Profiling durch vorurteilsbelastete Technologie noch wollen wir als Versuchskaninchen in einem KI-Experiment herhalten. Wir wollen die vier Millionen für soziale Projekte, Jugendarbeit und Suchthilfe, für Housing First und eine Unterstützung der Nachbarschaft.

The CDU and the SPD are pressing on massively with the surveillance of public spaces. After the weapon-free zones, the stricter ASOG law, and the construction of the fence around Görli as well as the nighttime closure, now follows the AI cameras. No AI can recognise whether people are fighting and being aggressive, or doing something much more mundane like dancing. Furthermore, irrational behaviour by people undergoing psychological emergencies cannot be predicted using logical and rational calculations. In any case, the deployment of police officers who are inadequately trained in dealing with traumatised, mentally ill, and conspicuous individuals usually leads to avoidable escalation. Neither is the neighbourhood in need of more racial profiling carried out by prejudiced technology, nor do we want to act as lab rats in an AI experiment. We would like this four million to instead be invested in social projects, youth work and addiction support, in Housing First as well as support for the neighbourhood.
