Dem Senat ist es trotz vollmundiger Ankündigungen bislang nicht gelungen, den Zaun um den Görli fertigzustellen und uns unseren Park nachts wegzunehmen. Das liegt vor allem am breiten Widerstand der Nachbarschaft.
Im Dezember hieß es noch, die Bauarbeiten seien abgeschlossen und ab Anfang März soll die Schließung umgesetzt werden, aber es fehlen weiterhin 15 Zaunelemente an der Görlitzer Straße, fünf Drehkreuze verfügen über keinen Abschluss zur Mauer und kein Tor hat bisher eine Bodenarretierung geschweige denn ein Schließsystem (Stand 9. Februar 2026).
Da der Bezirk für die Verordnung zur Schließung zuständig ist, wird er diese nicht umsetzen. Dann müsste eine Einigungsstelle angerufen werden, die noch nicht einmal eingerichtet ist. Der „Einigungs“-Prozess wird weitere zwei Monate in Anspruch nehmen (Quelle)
Wir rechnen deshalb damit, dass alle Versuche, den Görli nachts zu schließen, nicht vor Mai realistisch sind. In diesem Fall werden wir dagegen klagen und setzen uns auch für eine aufschiebende Wirkung ein.
Es ist also noch vieles offen –zumal am 20. September die Wahl zum Abgeordnetenhaus ansteht und Tennisfreund Kai Wegner aktuell nicht so gute Karten hat…

Ein Zaun ist Quatsch
Wir kritisieren den Zaunbau, weil er fast 2 Millionen Euro kostet, während überall im sozialen und kulturellem und bei der Bildung überall gekürzt wird. Ein Sicherheitsdienst, der die nächtliche Schließung umsetzen und bewachen soll, kostet weitere 800.00€ pro Jahr!
Völlig unklar bleibt, was ein Zaun und die nächtliche Schließung angesichts der zweifelsohne bestehenden sozialen Konflikte im öffentlichen Raum bewirken soll.
Wir halten den Zaunplan für populistischen Quatsch, denn um den Görli herum finden fast 10 mal mehr Straftaten statt als im Görli selbst! Ein Zaun wird nicht gegen Drogenhandel, Gewalt oder Obdachlosigkeit helfen. Die Belastung der Anwohner*innen nimmt trotz zahlreicher polizeilicher Maßnahmen immer weiter zu. Ein Zaun um den Görli und die nächtliche Schließung sind keine Lösung!
Was brauchen wir stattdessen?
- Statt Geld für reine Symbolpolitik zu verpulvern, sollten betreute Drogen-Konsumräume, Tagesaufenthalte und Hilfen zum Ausstieg nachhaltig finanziert werden – und zwar nicht nur tagsüber!
- Statt obdachlose Menschen und Drogenkonsument*innen zu vertreiben!
- Statt ständig von rassistischen Kontrollen und Polizeigewalt bedroht zu werden, sollten Menschen ohne Papiere und Arbeitserlaubnis endlich eine sichere Perspektive und legale Beschäftigungs- und Verdienstmöglichkeiten erhalten!
- Statt immer neuer Sparmaßnahmen sollten Frauenhäuser, Gewaltschutzambulanzen und gewaltpräventive Projekte weiter ausgebaut und langfristig gesichert werden!
Her mit dem schönen Park
- Der Görli soll ein sozialer & öffentlicher Raum für alle sein: Zum Abhängen, Grillen, Sport machen, Sterne gucken und als Spielort für Kinder!
- Wir wollen auf gut ausgebauten Radwegen durch den Park direkt und sicher nach Neukölln, Friedrichshain & Alt-Treptow kommen!
- Der Görli soll ein Ort sein, an dem sich alle wohl und sicher fühlen.
- Wir wollen den Görli weiter öffnen: Mauern und Zäune einreißen statt neue zu bauen!

Will Görli be closed at night from May?
Despite their big promises, the senate has not succeeded in readying the fence and taking away our park at night. This is in large part due to the neighbourhood’s resistance.
It was said in December that the construction work was complete, and that the closures should be implanted from the start of March. However, there are still 15 fence elements missing from Görlitzer Straße, five turnstiles remain unconnected to any walls, and none of the gates have so much as a floor lock, never mind a full locking system (as of the 26th January 2026).
As the district is responsible for enforcing the closure order, it will not be implementing it. This would require the involvement of an arbitration board, which has not yet been set up. This process will take another two months. (Source)
As a result, we expect that any attempt to close Görli at night would not realistically come into effect before May. Consequently, we are going to take legal action against it, as well as advocate for a postponement.
A lot remains up in the air – the state elections will be taking place on the 20th September, and the cards are not in tennis lover Kai Wegner’s favour…

A fence is nonsense
We are against the construction of the fence because it cost almost two million euros, while social, cultural, and educational facilities are being defunded everwhere. The security that is supposed to enforce the closure and watch the park will cost a further €800,00 a year!
It is still completely unclear as to how a fence and a nighttime closure is supposed to help in the face of the obvious social conflicts that still permeate our public spaces.

We consider the plan for a fence to be populist nonsense, especially given that there are ten times the number of crimes committed around Görli compared to inside Görli itself. A fence will not solve the problems of drug dealing, violence, or homelessness. Despite the endless police interventions, the burden on residents only continues to grow. A fence around Görli and a nighttime closure is no solution!
What do we need instead?
- Instead of squandering money on purely symbolic policies, and driving away homeless people and drug users, we should sustainably fund consumption rooms, day centres, and support for those suffering from withdrawal – and not just during the day
- Instead of endless, racist stop and search measures, and threats of police violence, people with neither papers nor work permits should finally have their prospects secured, and be given the right to legal employment and earning opportunities.
- Instead of introducing even more austerity measures, women’s shelters, shelters for victims of violence, and projects that help to prevent violence should be expanded and have their funding secured long-term.
Bring on the beautiful park
- Görli should be a social, public space for everyone – to hang out, have a barbecue, play sport, look at the stars, or give children a place to play!
- We want to be able to get to Neukölln, Friedrichshain, and Alt-Treptow, directly and safely, on properly developed cycle lanes!
- Görli should be a space in which everyone feels safe and comfortable.
- We want to open Görtli up more – we should be tearing down walls and fences rather than building new ones!
